Renfrewshire Activities:

Walking Guide  Cycling Guide

Scotland’s Destination for All Seasons

Explore historic towns and villages, experience the lives of the weavers, research your family roots – all this is possible during a short break in Renfrewshire.

Or if you like a mix of adventure and leisure you can find it all under one roof at Xscape Braehead, not to mention a 200m long real snow slope!

If it is History and Heritage you’re interested in,

    * visit hero William Wallace’s birthplace in Elderslie
    * experience the grandeur of Paisley Abbey’s architecture and glorious collection of stained glass
    * find out what life was like for Paisley’s shawl weavers in the eighteenth century at Sma’Shot Cottages

With an importance in Scotland’s history far beyond its size, Renfrewshire has been home to some fascinating characters, dramatic events and vital industries.

In medieval times much of the area was in the possession of the High Steward of Scotland, the Baron Renfrew.  The Stewards became the Stewart royal house, with the marriage of Walter Fitzalan High Steward to Marjorie Bruce, daughter of King Robert the Bruce, hero of Bannockburn.

If it’s the Great Outdoors for you,

    * try Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park’s centres at Muirshiel and Castle Semple for information about walking routes, cycle and boat hire, and then explore the stunning scenery of the Park.
    * find out about traffic free cycle routes, or mountain biking trails.
    * take in the panoramic views from Gleniffer Braes Country Park.
    * sample one of a dozen golf courses

More inclined to “Shop till You Drop”?

    * Braehead has hundreds of stores which will satisfy the most discerning shopper.
    * explore the interesting craft and gift shops in the villages, or Paisley town centre’s historic High Street
