Sustrans is the UK's leading transport charity working in practical projects so that people can choose to travel in ways that benefit both their own health and the environment. They have created the National Cycle Network which extends across the length and breadth of the UK.
Two of their routes run through the heart of Renfrewshire:
The Lochwinnoch Loop Line which forms part of National routes 7 and 75 and runs between Paisley and Lochwinnoch and
The Paisley and Clyde Coast which forms part of the National route 75 which runs between Paisley and Bridge of Weir/Kilmacolm
These routes provide excellent, largely car-free cycling routes for travelers passing through Renfrewshire. The routes also provide an excellent spine from which you can explore the many excellent on-road cycling routes throughout Renfrewshire.
The Council has published a booklet – “Out There on Bikes” - which provides details of 10 cycle routes around Renfrewshire. The individual routes are available to download here
