Renfrewshire sits on the west coast of Scotland, the best side if you really want to split hairs. just west of Glasgow. This location makes it a great base of operations for exploring Lomond and the Trossachs or the south west coast without the draw backs of staying there. See the Google map Who
Over the years our people have influenced every corner of the world, and if we take into account the current Time Lord, David Tennant, as Dr Who, we can include pretty much most of the Universe too! (How's that for a huge boast!) The area is emerging from it's engineering and farming past to tackle a new dawn with an enthusiasm and energy that reflects the people. The fast moving world of electronics and software along side the globalisation of industry agriculture presents it's challenges, but the University of Paisley, now renamed the University of the West of Scotland to encompass it's growth and certain key companies have kept our work force skilled and flexible. Digging a hole and harnessing the wind We produced the machines that dug the channel tunnel and the wind turbines that started a wind of change in the ecology of the world (sorry for that pun) thanks to Howdens. We were the base of operations for most of the power stations and a world resource for research into the new generation or coal and gas power stations (Babcock and Babcocks Research). Scotland starts here
We have amazing buildings, open spaces, shopping and the best skiing in Scotland all year round (all indoor! See Xscape! Renfrewshire Fairtrade
So to sum up, Renfrewshire is cool and we are developing and changing all the time. Our people are some of the friendliest in the land and it is a great place to live! |

Renfrewshire over the last 200 years has been the centre of the engineering world with companies in Johnstone and Paisley leading that exporting goods and services to the world.
We are the gateway to Scotland with Glasgow Airport located in the centre of Renfrewshire, still the same regardless of the attempts to re decorate it! And that spirit that was shown during that attack on the airport is indicative of the people in the area! The M8 motorway starts in Renfrewshire and takes you through to Edinburgh, while Erskine Bridge is your doorway to the north west of Scotland.
Thanks to the committment of the people in the area, and the political will, we have seen the adoption of the Fairtrade principal in Paisley and Bishopton. Now Renfrewshire, as an area, are aiming to be a Fairtrade Zone. This endeavour is indicative of the passion of the people of the area. See
