Langbank
Langbank is an attractive residential village sited on the south bank of the River Clyde, some 8 miles west of Paisley on the A8 to Greenock. As well as good road access, it has a railway station on the Glasgow to Greenock and Gourock line. Information on the village's history is available on the Renfrewshire Council website. Facilities in the village include a primary school, village hall (tel. 01475 540413, village shops and the Hungry Monk Restaurant. On the edge of the village lies Finlaystone Country Estate with long established gardens and woodlands, adventure play areas, a gift shop and cafe. The house has been in the ownership of only three families over the last six hundred years, and is now the home of the chief of the Clan Macmillan.
A little further outside the village is Gleddoch House Hotel and Golf Club. With stunning views across the Clyde towards Ben Lomond and the Campsie Hills, the 6350 yard championship golf course presents a challenge in a most scenic setting.
